Tree Decorating

Here are some of the sights and sounds of Christmas. Here the kids sat on Santa's lap and told him what they wanted (although when Makaila said "American Girl DOLL", he heard DOG). The kids are all bundled up as we go out on a Saturday night to pick out a tree. You're not supposed to pick out a tree at night you say? But we've now done it on a weekend night 2 years in a row and my husband LOVES it. It is quick. It is easy (since we go to Home Depot). And there is NO WAITING. From our house back to our house again we can do it easy in an hour. The tree of course must be decorated the next day, but such is life.

This year our kids come in the next day at 7:30 a.m. telling me they were ready to decorate the tree. We of course go to the early service at church, so that was not an option. But they got to do it that afternoon. The good thing about this age, is that our kids are really excited for decorating and seeing all in the boxes. That part was great. But unfortunately they were big on claiming EVERY single ornament. "That's mine. No, that's mine. Mommy, is this one mine?" We were a litte frustrated with that aspect of the decorating as we both were practically yelling out by the end, "Not every ornament has to belong to somebody!". But they both stayed interested until the end.
