Well, Friday we got the air conditioner fixed. After one sleepless night, one night at friends and a long afternoon and morning waiting around for it to be diagnosed and serviced. But now it works. And surprisingly, the part was under warranty and we did get away without getting into the $400 mark I thought was the low end. So God is good and we were provided for.
Friday morning was so difficult. Makaila had been up late Wednesday. Then we went to friends and her and Cole slept in the same room. They had beds, and that was great, but it was the kid's first time in a "big boy bed" and he isn't used to sleeping in the same room as someone. So Cole was being the trouble-maker and keeping Makaila awake. Then we got up early so we could come back home to dress and eat breakfast. Makaila had trouble listening and obeying that morning and received various forms of consequences various times. It would have been difficult, being the first week (full days) of Kindergarten. As we're driving to school she is just crying and saying, "I'm too tired to go to school". I felt so bad I almost caved and let her stay home. But I sucked it up for her sake and told her I didn't want her to miss any of the fun things they were going to do and how it would be her first day in art. And I waited to cry until we were driving away. But she survived. And she told me the day got better. Glad I didn't cave. Glad it's fixed. Glad we get a 3-day weekend to recover on sleep.
