So our "adventure" was fun. But we couldn't spend a leisurely morning at the hotel because Makaila and I had a fun event at church. This was just for 1st-3rd grade girls and their moms. While we were enjoying crafts, food, and a speaker, Chad and Cole went to go check the house for electricity. Still none. Now the house was down to a chilly 50. Chad had a few bills that he needed to pay. He said is was miserable. They did a few errands to waist time until they were to pick us up at noon.
We then got some stuff at home and attempted to go to the mall. Apparently so was most of the town also wanted to go shopping. It was about as bad as the day after Christmas. We decided it wasn't worth it and tried to go back to church so Chad could work on his school stuff on the laptop with church's internet. Turns out since the coffee shop wasn't open and there weren't any events, the main part of church wasn't open. By this time both kids had fallen asleep in the car since neither one slept well. It just wasn't our day. We were semi-stranded and all frustrated we couldn't just be at home. The security guard saw us and I told her we didn't have electricity and were just looking for somewhere to hang out and let our kids sleep on the couch. She told us they would let us to go other parts of church taht were open and we did. Neither child could be transferred to the couches without waking up. But in the end Chad got a bit of work done as Makaila watched a video on the DVD player and Cole took a nap laying on my lap (feeling hotter and hotter as the time past).
We called on some freinds to crash at their house and they told us when they'd be home so we could come over. We went home to pack up at about 4:45 pm and saw the crew working on our down power line. We had power within about 10 minutes. Cole had a fever of 102. We called our friends and told them we'd be staying at home happily! And amazingly, I didn't have to throw out as much food as I thought I would!
